Angelika Kowol and Peter Münster.

On October 5th, 2024, a special exhibition took place at LEUM – Light Museum & More in Leobersdorf, as part of the Long Night of Museums. The young artist Angelika Kowol, only 16 years old, presented her works to the general public for only the second time—together with the well-known Austrian artist Peter Münster.

From 6 p.m., numerous guests visited the museum to experience the meeting of two very different artistic styles. Peter Münster’s works were photorealistic and rendered with precise expression. It’s worth noting, however, the sometimes unsettling faces of children depicted in his paintings. In contrast, Angelika Kowol’s works were often soft and flowing, evoking a dreamy atmosphere. Some pieces, however, took a very different approach, such as the headless male torso, which leaves plenty of room for interpretation. Overall, it was an impressive selection showcasing the diverse styles and motifs of the young artist.

The juxtaposition of the generations made the evening a truly exciting artistic experience. It was a thoroughly successful event. I am curious to see how Angelika Kowol will continue her artistic journey… I will be reporting on it…
